Fuzzy Wuzzy

                            The Story of Fuzzy Wuzzy

When I was a little girl, my mother told me this little poem.  Later I made up a story about Fuzzy Wuzzy for my grand children.
                                                                       poem

  Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear,
  Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
Fuzzy Wuzzy, wasn't fuzzy was he?

              Story
Fuzzy Wuzzy was born with his hair sticking up like a porcupine.  The other little cubs would make fun of him calling him "Porky", but  Fuzzy Wuzzy didn't mind being called names because his mother had taught him to say ,"sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt him."

One day when he was old enough go alone to the river to catch salmon, he saw for the first time his reflection in the water. Fuzzy thought to himself, "You are the ugliest cub I have ever seen." Fuzzy picked up his paw and splashed the water to break up his reflection, but it didn't do any good.  His reflection came right back and Fuzzy Wuzzy was very angry at himself. He didn't care if he ever went home again or saw another bear cub.  He thought to himself," everyone is right, I do look like a porcupine!'  It was getting dark and close to supper time, but Fuzzy didn't care.  He just wanted to hide forever.

Racket the raccoon was coming down to the river to wash his paws for supper, when he saw Fuzzy Wuzzy sitting with his head in his paws."What is the matter, my good friend' said Racket, ' you look so sad?" Fuzzy Wuzzy didn't say a word but kept looking straight down at the ground. "Hey, Fuzzy,' asked Racket, 'Didn't you hear about your family?" Now, that got Fuzzy;s attention. "What do you mean my family?  What is the matter?" responded Fuzzy anxiously

"Earlier this morning a big truck from the circus drove into the Green Forest looking for a special bear family to train for a special act and they chose yours."  Fuzzy didn't know what to think. "I have always wanted to be in the circus.  I heard that you get three good meals a day and you're treated you like a king.  But, look at me Racket, my hair sticks up like a porcupine, the circus wouldn't want me."  "I wouldn't be too surprised about that, Fuzzy," said Racket, "You are just the perfect  kind of bear.  You were created very special, and with a friendly personality like yours, the boys and girls will love you.  I think you should go and catch up with your family right now."

Fuzzy Wuzzy was excited for the first time that day.  He left the river, headed home, packed his suit case and started for the city.  A farmer, driving in a pick up truck stopped to give Fuzzy a ride. "Where are you going, my little cub?," asked the driver. "To the circus in town. Will you take me there?" answered Fuzzy hopefully. "I will get you there as soon as I can. You hop in the back and I will have you there A.S.A.P."

The farmer and Fuzzy arrived at the circus just as his family were being taking into their new home.  When Fuzzy saw his parents, brothers and sisters, he took off like a shot to give them a  BIG BEAR HUG! Fuzzy Wuzzy and his family became the most popular bear act in the whole circus, in fact, today if you ever go the circus remember to say hello to Fuzzy Wuzzy for me.

Boys and girls, sometimes you might not like the way God created you, but you must remember that He loves His creation and you are NOT to compare yourself with another.  How would you like it if you created something you thought was very beautiful and somebody said it was ugly.  Wouldn't that hurt your feelings?  Of course it would.  God loves you just the way He created you to be for Himself.  You are His special and beautiful creation.

The SURPISE party

The Green Forest was full of activity. All the little animals were excited about Ribbit's surprise birthday party. They did a good job keeping it a secret as they planned for the big day.  Racket, the Raccoon, and Jimmy, the Skunk, were the organizers.Several invitations were sent  throughout the Green Forest, except to Reddy the Fox.  Nobody wanted Reddy to be at the birthday party. He would just ruin everything..

As the invitations secretly spread throughout the Green Forest, Reddy the Fox fiound out that he was not invited to the surprise party and this made him very upset! He just could not understand why he wasn't invited..  Why do you think he wasn't invited?  Do you really think he was upset or just missing an opportunity to catch a rabbit for his dinner?

Reddy could not get this out of his mind, so he thought and thought how he might disguise himself.   I know what I will do. I'll make a big rabbit costume and SURPRISE everyone." Amazingly, it was a very good imitation.  The costume  looked just like a big bunny, and nobody would really know the difference.

The day of the party arrived, and all the little animals were very excited as they anticipated the shock on Ribbits face when he opened the door. The plan was for everyone to meet at Jimmy the Skunk's house, and then go over to Ribbit's, to knock on his door. When he answered, they would  say, "Surprise Ribbit, Happy Birthday!"  The balloons, party favors and all the other decorations would be with  them to set up the party. Chipper the Chipmunk had made Ribbit his favorite kind of cake, a carrot cake with  gum drops chocolate bits and is name written on the top.

As the little animals started walking down the path to Ribbit's house, Reddy was hiding behind a tree, dressed in his big bunny suit. He stepped out from behind the tree and said "Hey guys, where are you all going?  I am a new bunny in the Green Forest, can I go with you?"

Racket the Raccoon, spoke  up, "Who are you ? We didn't know that there was a new bunny family in the Green Forest."  Reddy responded saying, "My name is Jack, short for "jack rabbit", and  my family and I moved into the Green Forest a week ago. Where are you going?"  Reddy was lying. He knew where they were going. After Racket told them,  Reddy asked " I would like to join you, if you don't  mind. I don't have many friends yet.  Now, that was the truth. Reddy didn't have many other friends except another fox.. ?"

The little animals all agreed to let  "Jack"  join them. Now, you have to understand that among all the little animals were several of Ribbit"s best friends, and the smell of the all the little bunnies made Reddy's mouth  begin to salivate. He thought to himself, "What a great opportunity to catch a bunny!" Reddy could not keep his mind off this thought.

Racket and Jimmy noticed that Reddy appeared to be a little more interested in ONLY the little bunnies. Why hadn't Mrs.Owl told them about him?. She was always flying over the Green Forest and keeping a record of any newcomer. Without any warning Reddy ripped off his bunny hood exposing his big sharp teeth.  The bunnies were so scared and started to scream, "It's Reddy, it's Reddy, ran for your life."

Fortunately, Reddy could not get out of the bunny suit in time. He kept tripping over his big feet and trapped himself in his costume.  The bunnies all scattered in every direction, while Racket and Jimmy rallied all the little animals to attack Reddy.  They jumped on him and forced him to the ground. Mrs.Owl, on her regular scheduled flight looked down and saw all the animals holding Reddy to the round.  She quickly flew back to her house, found a rope, brought it back and  dropped it down to the animals. While the animals were holding Reddy down, Racket and Jimmy started to wrap the rope around Reddy's mouth and his body, then tied him to a tree. Racket spoke to Reddy, "Now, you will stay here until after the party and all the bunnies are home. You tried to deceive us. You are not a jack rabbit"

Once Reddy was tied to the tree for the rest of the day, the little animals heaved a sign of relief. The bunnies all  came back and everone gathered to continue on their way to Ribbit's house.  When Ribbit answered the door, he  couldn't believe his eyes. All his forest friends went into the house, decorated the living room with all the balloons, streamers and favors.  It was truly a surprise birthday party that the Green Forest will never forget. I don't think Reddy will forget either!

Nibbles Tells His Story

My name is Nibbles and I live during the day, in the pocket of Hans the shoemaker. Boys and girls, do you remember the story of how I saved the day. I almost lost my two front teeth , tripping over my big feet running out the door with the two rubies in my mouth.

The Princess loves her beautiful new shoes, with the rubies that Hans had made for her wedding day.  The King and Queen were so impressed with Hans' workmanship that they invited Hans to bring his work shop into the palace to make shoes for all the servants.  Hans was very grateful for the invitation, but he told the King that he would go ONLY if I could come too. Arrangements were made for both of us and we soon found ourselves living the the King's palace.  However, what I didn't know was that the princess had a huge white cat, who wasn't very nice.  I knew right from the start that,, "that cat" didn't like me and if he had a chance, I would be his dinner!

Fortunately, there was a whole battalion of field mice in the place.  I first meet Lt.Squeaky, who told me about "that cat".  He said that I really had to be very careful because "that cat" was watching every move I made. When I moved to the palace, Hans bought a cage for me to sleep in at night.  The last thing at night before Hans went to bed, he would slip down the latch of the cage, tickle me under my chin and pat me on my head saying, " Good night little feller, I will see you in the morning."

One night after Hans had left for bed, I saw "that cat" slowly crawling, one paw in front of another toward my cage.  My little legs were shaking so hard.  Before I knew it, the cage door was open and that "that cat" teeth was ready to eat me.  It's teeth looked so sharp and his mouth was wide open.  Without thinking I just started to run and yelling at the top of my voice. help, help!

It  happened that night that Lt.Squeaky was on duty and heard my cry for help.  He quickly blew the trumpet and rounded up the mice.  The mice battalion kept "the cat" distracted, chasing them around the work shop, knocking over paint cans, shoe buttons and leather strips onto the floor, while  Lt. Squeaky quickly cut a  mouse hole in the corner of the work shop. When it was finished, Lt. Squeaky signaled to the battalion to retreat, grabbed me and headed for the hole. Once inside , I felt like I could breath again.  "What ever happened, Nibbles," asked Lt Squeaky.  I told him that I didn't know how "that Cat" opened the cage door.  Lt. Squeaky knew. "Remember, Nibbles, when I told you how "that Cat "is always watching?  He had figured out how to lift the latch to get to you.."

"How could I ever feel safe again"? I thought to myself, when Lt. Squeaky spoke up and said to me,"Your cage is not a safe place for you any more, but I have an idea for you. At night, you can come through the hole I made for your escape, and sleep with us. What do you think about that?"  It was more than kind of Lt. Squeaky to care about me.  From that night on, I spent my days with Hans in his pocket and at night with the mice.
