Mr. Sun's Sad Day

Mr. Sun was usually the first one to rise in the morning. Mr. Moon was going  to bed and the clouds were still on their vacation. It was a beautiful day,  with not a cloud in the sky. Mr. Sun loved these kind of days.  People in the village would praise his beauty and tell him how happy they were to be able to work outside or to go the beach.  It thrilled Mr. Sun's heart to hear people say  nice things about him, until one day, a very sad thing happened.  The cloud family were returning from their vacation and Mr. Sun was not very happy about that.

As the cloud family began to appear, Mr. Sun was hoping that he might be able to talk with Mr. Moon before he went to bed.  He always was very encouraging and a  good friend of Mr. Sun. Mr.Moon saw how sad his friend was and asked,"What ever is the matter Mr.Sun?  Why I have never seen you so sad." "Oh nothing,' said Mr. Sun discouragingly 'you can see for yourself that I am not wanted."  "Now, you know that is not true, Mr. Sun. You must be patient and wait your turn, explained Mr. Moon.

Mr. Moon left to get ready for bed when the Star family passed by and noticed how sad Mr. Sun was. Mrs.Star spoke, "What is wrong with you Mr. Sun. Have you forgotten that you are always the cheery one around here/"  "Not any more',said Mr. Sun, "I haven't heard anyone say anything nice about me for days." Mrs. Star tried to tell him that he was the reason for their twinkle, but he didn't pay any attention. Unable to cheer up Mr. Sun ,the Star family went on their way.

Later that day, Mrs. Rainbow appeared asking  "Why are you so sad Mr. Sun? "  Mr. Sun hung his head and said , "You can't possible  understand Mrs. Rainbow.  I am just not wanted around here any more." "Why, I am ashamed of you, Mr. Sun. You know that it is not true. I thought by now that you would learned how important you are to me. Just this morning a  little baby cloud fell down and nearly lost all his tears, you helped me to make a most gorgeous colorful rainbow in the sky,"explained Mrs. Rainbow. "I don't remember that Mrs. Rainbow, said Mr. Sun, sadly."  Mrs. Rainbow continued,  " I knew you wouldn't remember.  You were so into yourself, you weren't thinking of anyone else..  I think you should  go over and see how the little Cloud is doing after his fall.." replied Mrs. Rainbow. At her suggestion, Mr. Sun left to find
where the Cloud family was gathering.  He found them at the end of the Milky Way.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Cloud, I heard that your little baby had a serious fall.  Is he all right now? asked Mr. Sun inquisitively "Thank you for asking, Mr.Sun. He nearly scared us to death. He had never fallen like that before. Is there anything we can do for you Mr.Sun?"  "No, no one can help me. It seems that I am not really needed around here any more," Mr. Sun sadly answered.

"Now, you know that is not true, Mr. Sun.  You are the most needed one in our whole community.  Without you our cloud family would not exist.  When you are out all the time, everyone is so happy that you are shinning. We hear all your compliments, but nobody hardly ever wants to see us.  They run inside and complain that we are around.  Mr. Sun, don't you see how important it is to understand that we both are needed. We were created to help each other, not to think we are the most important. It has taken me a long time to believe it." said Mr Cloud humbly

Mr. Sun thought to himself and had to agree, "You are right, Mr. Cloud.  I think I have been much too proud, only thinking about myself, wanting every one to just praise me.. Please forgive me Mr. Cloud and I hope you and your family will have another enjoyable vacation soon"  Mr.Sun was beginning to  mellow.   "Oh, we will have a great vacation, Mr Sun.  You may not believe this, but when you are shining, we are able to gather every thing we need for our next important job and we have you to thank for it."

Mr. Sun, finally understood that his bad attitude in his own heart was his biggest problem.  Right after he repented and started to think about others, what do you think he started to hear?  You are right. The village people were so excited to see the sun again, they began to go outside, saying to one another, look Mr.Sun is back. It is going to be a beautiful afternoon .Now, we can work outside or go to the beach." From that day forward, Mr. Sun never complained about a cloudy day.  He was very grateful that he was an important part of the Creator's plan to keep the earth beautiful.

Nibbles saves the day

Once upon a time there was a shoe maker named Hans, and his little friend "Nibbles" the mouse.  Nibbles loved old, Hans and together they had lived in the village of Shoeben in a little tiny cottage.  Every night before Hans went to bed, he always left  a piece of bread for Nibbles and in the morning there wasn't a crumb left!  That is how Nibbles got his name.

Hans was the best shoemaker in all of Shoeben.  He not only made the shoes for the villagers, but even for the King and Queen. Before he started to work, each morning he would tuck Nibbles in his shirt pocket.  Nibbles loved to be close to Hans , while he diligently repaired old shoes and made new ones.  But, at the end of the day, Nibbles could always count on his little piece of bread.

One morning early there was a knock on the door of Hans' shoe shop.  It was a messenger from the Palace.  The pretty young princess was getting married in the Spring and the King and Queen wanted Hans to make a very special pair of shoes for her wedding. "What an honor it will be to make her shoes", answered Hans. "Do you have anything special that you would like me to put on them," he asked.  The messenger explained to Hans that the King had given him two incredibly beautiful and very valuable rubies to put in the toe of each shoe. "You will have a month to make the shoes, Hans," said the messenger.

Hans felt very honored to be making shoes for the Princess for such a special occasion.  He made sure that he put the rubies in a very safe place. That night when Hans and Nibbles were sleeping , two thieves broke into the shop and stole the rubies.  The commotion woke up Nibbles just as he saw the two thieves running down the street. Nibbles immediately followed them to an old abandoned  house. The thieves disappeared inside.  Nibble hopped up onto the window ledge to see where the rubies were being hidiing.

In the meantime, Hans woke up looking for Nibbles.but Nibbles was no where to be found.  Hans was deeply troubled.  Nibbles was always the first one up in the morning.  Hans looked all over the shop, but no Nibbles. Where could he be? thought Hans. 'I guess I will just have to start without him.  Hans went to get the rubies out of the safe place, "Oh, no!' exclaimed Hans fearfully,' the rubies, the rubies, where are they? What am I going to do?  I surely will be arrested. The king and queen will never believe that I lost them. What am I going to do"

No sooner had those thoughts entered Hans 'mind, when through his little mouse hole, Nibbles appeared.  He was half out of breath running so fast.  "Where have you been?" asked Hans fretfully. Without a word, , Nibbles opened his mouth and out  popped the two rubies.  "Nibbles, what is going on?" asked Hans.Nibbles started to explain,  "You will never believe it. Last night two thieves broke into your shop  and stole the rubies.  I followed them to an old an abandoned house, and when they weren't looking, I found the rubies, stuffed them into my mouth and ran.  I was so scared that they would see me, and hit me with a broom, but I ran as fast as lightening!

"You are my hero, Nibbles,  I didn't know what I would have done , if the King, ever thought I had stolen his rubies. Hans picked up Nibbles, gave him a big hug and put him back in his shirt pocket..  Nibbles still remains today Hans' most faithful, loyal  friend, and closest to his heart.

Foiled Again!

Ribbit the rabbit was sound asleep when his mother woke him up "Up and at em" Ribbit, It is a beautiful day and I need you to go out in the meadow and pick for us some clover."  "Gee, Mom," groaned Ribbit, "Do I have to.  I am so tired. Can't I sleep in this morning?" answered Ribbit. "Not this morning, Ribbit, Your body needs exercise as well as sleep." his mother seriously replied.  " Don't forget to start your day, son!" his mother added.

Ribbit knew exactly what he had to do when he got up in the morning: make his bed, fold his pajamas and put them under his pillow, wash his whiskers, of course wash behind his ears, and brush his teeth.  Ribbit had learned ever since he was a small bunny to start his day cheerfully without complaint.

After breakfast, Ribbit took his tin bucket and headed out to the clover patch. The clover blossoms were   so  huge, delicious and very tempting.  Ribbit just couldn't resist sitting down and eating a few.  He didn't get too many in his mouth, when he felt that someone was watching him.  He looked around and didn't see anyone, when he heard a big , "Achoo, Achoo!!" Who was that sneezing? Oh, no, it is Reddy the fox.  He was hiding behind a tree watching for his opportunity to attack Ribbit. Reddy's sneeze was just enough warning  for Ribbit to drop his bucket and run for his life. At first he didn't know where to run.  Reddy was fast on his tail.  Then he remembered what his father had taught him, " if ever in danger.  "QUICKLY RUN FOR A BRIAR PATCH OR A GROUNDHOG HOLE!!!!"  The groundhog hole was the closest, so Ribbit quickly disappeared into the hole just in the nick of time. Reddy disgusted and mad at Ribbit yelled down the hole, "You think you are pretty smart Ribbit, but you have to come out of the hole sometime today and I can wait!."

Ribbit's little legs were trembling and shaking with fear.  He was a scared and frightened.little bunny. Ribbit thought to  himself, "Reddy was right, I don't have a chance. I will be rabbit stew by tonight!! He began to cry, tears flowing down his furry cheeks. "No more clover, no more blueberries, no more strawberries, no more ....." What was that sound?  It sounded like somebody was digging.  Could Reddy be ....digging...?  No, it wasn't Reddy at all.  It was Mr.Groundhog, who had dug a hole from the other end to rescue Ribbit..  Ribbits father had called Mr.Groundhog for help to dig Ribbit out. He knew that his son would obey his instructions to find a briar patch or a groundhog hole.  Fortunately, there was only one groundhog hole near the clover patch.where Ribbit could be  trapped. Ribbit's rescue was a success and he was safely home . Reddy sat by the groundhog hole waiting for Ribbit , until he realized that he was FOILED AGAIN.!!
